Over the years I have read, written and collected many quotes, comments, letters, emails, and other writings. These contain: facts, ideas, thoughts and/or theories that make sense to me. The purpose of my talks, discussions and writings is to share with others the understanding gained from the best and most compelling of these. As an interested scientist, I have studied and read extensively in many different fields, concentrating mostly on our environment, the effect man has on it and on our marvelous and fascinating universe.

In my sharing, some of my words will please you and may even bring a smile. Some may not be in harmony with your own feelings and beliefs. Some will be about unpopular subjects - those we are reluctant to face. In all situations and methods of communication, I strive to share my concepts and ideas in a flexible, friendly, non-confrontational manner.

I try to be open minded and not to be emotionally bound to rigid positions on most subjects. Many times in life I have reversed my thinking on a subject when new evidence or arguments have tipped the scale from one side to the other. I have also discovered that many situations have more than a few different practical positions that can be held. Sometimes these differing positions have relatively equal positive and negative factors making a certain decision impossible. Nevertheless, a decision sometimes must be made. It is good to remember that not to decide is a decision to abandon the control of a situation to the whims of others. Far to many people do this rather than take a stand one way or the other. You must choose, or be the victim of another’s choosing.

All my talks and writings are open to your opinions and suggestions. Positive or negative, they are always encouraged. As Peter Abelard said,

"By doubting, we are led to inquire. By inquiring we perceive the truth."

There is a quote by Angela Monet that I treasure,

"Those who dance are thought insane by those who can’t hear the music."

Hopefully, my words may bring a bit of my music to your ears.

These six talks are the most popular presentations. They deal with subjects quite controversial to some people. Even though they are presented in an open, non-confrontational manner there are those who might take offense at the content. To deal with this, we respect all types of differing opinions and make no effort to change anyone’s faith or belief structures. At all times, great effort is made to respect the beliefs and feelings of all. Though our presentations may not adhere to current rules of political correctness, they do use common courtesy and respect the rights and sensitivities of most people.

How Indiana (Or any other state) can attract many new businesses, greatly increase job growth, and vastly increase state revenue without new taxes
- This will actually work for any state, but since I’m a Hoosier, I’ll give Indiana the first shot. On the surface this would be an unpopular program because it would reward successful people. Many Hoosiers fall victim to those who preach class hatred and are thus strongly anti-success in spite of the fact that all state income is created by business and professional people who are the only ones that actually create jobs.

Is Geothermal Energy the Wave of the Future?
- A geothermal power plant requires about the same initial investment as a modern coal-fired one yet maintenance costs are lower, no fuel is required, and there is no emission of carbon dioxide. Volcanic activity is not the only source of geothermal heat as present oil-well drilling techniques can be used to reach the earth's unlimited source of internal heat in about sixty percent of the land area of North America. About the author:
Howard, an engineer, scientist, designer and businessman, launched his sixth career when he became a novelist at age seventy. His first novel, "Blue Shift," is in book stores across the nation. Describing himself as an engineer and scientist who always longed to be a poet, he makes his home on Lake Tippecanoe in Northern Indiana. He spent summers there throughout his entire life, becoming a full time resident in 1984. He has lived in Long Beach California, Cleveland Heights and Euclid in Ohio, Oak Park and Lagrange in the Chicago area and Olongapo in the Philippines. He now spends winters in St Augustine, Florida. He travels extensively throughout the country, visiting California, Hawaii, and many other places on a regular basis.
